Creating Healthy Habits That Last

This week’s Wellness Newsletter is here

Creating Healthy Habits That Last

We often begin a new health and fitness routine feeling highly motivated. We decide we’re going to exercise every day, completely change our diet, drink more water, sleep for eight hours and finally get organised—all at once!

But lasting change rarely comes from trying to overhaul everything overnight.

The secret is to start small and choose habits that work with your life, not against it.

Start with one small change

Choose one habit that feels achievable. This could be taking a ten-minute walk, adding protein to breakfast, drinking an extra glass of water or going to bed 30 minutes earlier.

Small actions might not feel dramatic, but when repeated consistently, they create powerful results.

Make it easy

Remove as many barriers as possible. Put your workout clothes out the night before, keep your water bottle nearby, plan a few simple meals and book your exercise sessions into your diary.

The easier a habit is to complete, the more likely you are to continue with it.

Attach it to something you already do

Link your new habit to an established part of your day:

  • Stretch while the kettle boils.
  • Take a short walk after lunch.
  • Drink water when you wake up.
  • Prepare your next day’s meals after dinner.
  • Complete ten minutes of strength training before your shower.

Join a class

If time is against you and you struggle to fit movement into your day, come and join me online.

This weekend, I’m teaching a special Fitness Pilates class online, and every day you’ll find either a short, express Pilates session or a longer class, alongside regular strength-training workouts.

You can join me live for extra motivation and accountability, or access the replay and complete the class whenever it suits you.

Even 15 or 20 minutes of movement counts. You don’t need to find hours of spare time—you simply need to begin, stay consistent and make movement part of your day.

Avoid the all-or-nothing mindset

Missing one workout or having an unplanned meal doesn’t mean you’ve failed. One imperfect day will not undo your progress.

Simply return to your routine at the next available opportunity. Consistency matters far more than perfection.

Track how you feel

Notice improvements in your energy, strength, sleep, mood and confidence—not just changes on the scales.

These positive changes are often the real motivation we need to keep going.

Your wellness challenge

Choose one healthy habit to focus on for the next seven days. Keep it simple, make it achievable and commit to showing up for yourself.

Come and join me online this weekend and take that first small step towards creating a healthy habit that lasts.

What is the one small habit you could begin today that your future self will thank you for?

Have a great week
